Do you support animal abuse?.
The sales of their dogs are supporting the unreputable breeders that the dogs come from. It is never a good idea to purchase a dog through a pet shop, with the exception of the dog being a fostered rescue dog, and even then its likely the purchase would be through the shelter, not the pet shop. If you want a puppy of a particular breed, find a reputable breeder. Here's a hint, you'll be on a waiting list to get your dog, because it will be an experience worth waiting for. Don't support puppy mills.
Just because the dog is healthy doesn't mean that it's poor mother isn't being treated like crap at the hands of a poor breeder. Good breeders do not even need to advertise, as people come to them looking for puppies who are bred in a good environment. Good breeders do not breed until their is a demand for all of the puppies who will be produced in their litter. They do not let their dogs suffer, and have no need for them to be put on display at at pet shop... it just isn't acceptable to a good breeder.
I wouldn't even sugest buying pet supplies here, why hand your money over to a place that supports cruel treatment of dogs (and people's children from other reviews I've read) when there are plenty of places in the area that do not. For pete's sake... buy at target before giving money to someone that allows the mistreatment of animals.
Just because a dog purchased from a pet shop is healthy, well behaved, and the love of your life does not mean that its parents aren't still subjected to abuse at a puppy mill somewhere. Sure, your dog is loved and well taken care of but the dogs still at the puppy mill have a different story to tell, and buying from bad breeders does nothing but give them money to continue their immoral business.
Proud to have them in our community!!!. I LOVE this place!!!! I live near their shop and have purchased several animals from them and all have been in perfect health! I Love Vinnie's!!! Staff is always very friendly, helpful and loves to see my puppies when I take them to visit!!! Anyone who had a bad experience probably should have purchased a leash for their children...I could never see them being rude to anyone, unless your child is misbehaving and could possibly cause harm to themself or one of the animals!! Go there...a GREAT experience...lots of sweet animals!!! Thanks BowWow Shoppe!!!! See you again soon!!!!
HORRIBLE EXPIERENCE-DON"T GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I used to always love this place, and used to go there and take my kids all the time to look at the animals, and even planned on buying a dog there someday, but NEVER AGAIN!!!!! I took my kids in there and my 2 yr. old son squealed in excitement upon seeing the animals, and the lady that worked there yelled "hey" very rudely, and I let that go. Then, he did it again, and she came over, pointed her finger in my sons face, and started yelling at him, telling him he was gonna scare the animals, and told him if he didn't stop screaming, he was gonna have to leave the store. She yelled at him for about a minute in a very mean and rude way, and he was so scared, he was holding on to my leg for dear life! When I told her it was unapprropriate for her to yell at my son like that and if she had a problem she should have said something to me, she defended herself saying that you have to talk to kids like that, and kept saying that he couldn't scream around the pets, etc. I told her I understand if he can't scream in front of the pets, but it was absolutely unnecessary for her to yell at my son like that, and told her she should have said said something, in a respectful way, to me, and I definitely would have taken him out of the store. She just kept defending what she did,and I could see I wasn't gonna get anywhere, so I left. I called 4 times within a month, leaving messages for Vinnie to call me back, and never got a phone call. I finally went back in there today, asking for Vinnie, but she was not there, but guess who was? She told me Vinnie would probaly not be able to reture my call, because she was very busy with her sick uncle. She told me she was the owner too. I told her again how displeased I was, and she just kept defending what she did, saying that there was a bird out of the cage, and his screaming could have caused it to attack my son. If you have a bird that could attack someone for screaming, don't you think it should be in a cage!!!!!????? How about if a newborn baby, a kid with a temper tantrum, or a mentally disabled person went in there, and was making a lot of noise? I would thing that would be a safety issue. I pretty much realized there was nothing that was gonna get done, but I will never go there again, and I would think twice about taking your kids in there, and even if you don't have kids, dealing with these kind of people. I never write reviews, but I feel so strongly about this. I still feel that there is something I should be able to do, or some kind of complaint I should be able to make, but I was told that there's not. I don't think a lot of moms would have been as classy and mature as I was. Also, the cats had long nails and scratched me in the back while I was turned.
Great pet store.
This shop is very clean and well organized. I have been in both of the locations and the one in Thomasville is by far the best but they are limited with the one at Market.
I would send all of my friends and realatives to their shop.
Puppy Mill Dogs and sick cats. Don't get a dog from here. All the puppies for sale come from the Lancaster puppy mills that Oprah did that show on. Awful conditions and my dog I got from there years ago has TONS of issues. He has cost me over 10,000 and he is only a little over 4 years. The kittens they get are also just from random people wanting to unload them. They are not tested for any medical issues like Feline Leukemia or Feline Aids. Go to the shelter instead!
