Bally hoo hoo:) good margaritas..awesome chicken quesadilla and flatbreads
We just love this restaurant. We have eaten here many times while in town for UF games. They are consistently good, the seafood is fresh, the service is friendly and the beer is cold. What could be better than that? Well, no wait in line would be nice but it seems I'm not the only one to feel this way. Bon appetit!!
THE BEST FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE THEIR WHITE SANGRIA IS THE BEST!
OUTSTANDING ALWAYS...Every dish is prepared great.
Upbeat, Jimmy Buffet Atmosphere makes the place laid back, fun, and just plain enjoyable. You can come as you are or dress up, whatever floats your boat.
Deserts are out of this world: Banana Foster is their SPECIALTY, as featured on ESPN each year during football season, and the Brownie dish with Ice Cream, Whip Cream, Nuts and Cherry are out of this world.
Ballyhoo is by far one of our favorite restaurants. The food, service and atmosphere is always terrific and the menu offers a wide selection, there is something for everyone no matter what your taste is or how hungry you are. The portion sizes are big enough that I almost always leave with leftovers. I had my favorite meal, Bimini Stuffed Grouper with garlic mashed and creamed spinach. before dinner we started with the firecracker shrimp, they are yummy with a little kick but be careful of the sauce drizzled on the side, it is HOT.
Love the unique menu and atmosphere at lunch. The night crowd is a little loud for me, but this is my favorite lunch place in Gainesville. Grilled salmon is very tasty and they even offer raw oysters! House salad is the best in town!
Went to Ballyhoo to wind down from stressful day and had a wonderful recuperation with good wine and a Flatbread with slices of steak, mozzarella cheese, tomato, and fresh basil leaves. Heavenly. Now I want to go back and sample the remaining flatbreads on the menu. The bread itself was thin and crispy, a great substitute for pizza. Convivial atmosphere, good and unobtrusive service. Like being in my own private club. Lots of customers, both inside and outside. Obviously a place for young and old. Live music outside. Good vibes.
I was in Gainesvile for a business meeting and a small grouip of us went tto Ballywho, mainly because it was close. WELL!! The menu had a good assortment to choose from, and the five of us each order something different. I ordered their wedge salad, and I was impressed. I healthy cut of lettuce topped with blue cheese, and bacon bits . . . .and avacado, and crumbled egg, and diced tomatoes, and red onions! Added to this, and this really "topped" it off, a balsamic reduction was drizzled atop. I added lightly blackened grilled chicken for another $3.00, and was not disappointed. I'm a pretty good at consuming food, but I left 20% on the plate!! The philly sub, cheeseburger, and tilapia sandwich were totally consumed and enjoyed by our group. The final person in the group had the Mediterranean flat bread, and when it was brought out, we all thought it was a mistake because it looked like a flat bread for 3!! She got a to go box!! I guess you can tell that I was suitably impressed by the quality and portions served. I will gladly visit again when I am in Gainesville.
We had not eaten at Ballyhoo in over 4 years, since our daughter graudated from UF. Decided it would be a nice place to go. Came in from Ocala. We made reservations, were seated right away.Kevin, our server, was the best! He was attentive and the orders were all accurate! Great variety of food and what we ordered was great- sea bass, talapia, ribs, prime rib and a burger - no complaints - just compliments all around- drinks were good also.
This is a low key, laid back place- we love it!
This restaurant has it all; awesome food, great atmosphere and a wonderful location. It's in the parking lot of a large movie theater, so it's super easy to catch a movie after dinner. They also have a great patio outside where they do live music! Don't be afraid to try new things here. You won't regret it. I'm pretty much a steak and potatoes kind of person. But the food is so good here, never a disappointment, I'm not afraid to try new things! =)
