90 Years and Still the BEST!. I have been going to Harry's for more then three decades and love it! Not only do they clearly have the best burgers in CT, but maybe one of the best in the country. I was there last week and they had a sign saying they had been open for 90 years! You can't deny the place must be doing a lot right. The staff are great too. They are always working hard and seem to enjoy themselves. I see many of the same faces year after year, along with some new ones.

My children have always chosen Harry's Place over any place they can stop on the way home from the beach, and it's a tradition, just like when I was a child.

I hope they are around for 90 more years for future generations to enjoy.

Best kept secret in CT.. After flying in from the state of FL, on our way to the Mohegan's Casino we pleasantly surprised with the service and quality food that we recieved from Harry's Place. We had a 5 day vacation in CT and we found ourselves visiting this site 2 out of our 5 day visit. Between the owner, the employees, and the GREAT food it was an excellent experience! We highly recommend this restaurant.

Some background info. Harry;s place was originally owned by Harry Smuckler. My father Ruby Cohen took the place over after an illness forced Harry out of work. My dad was about 17 years old. Ruby moved the building from the center of Colchester down the street about 3/4 of a mile and there it sits today. Ruby sold the business in 1977 and retired. Ruby had five children 4 of which worked there full time every summer for over 50 years that Ruby owned the place. The meat came fresh daily and Ruby only purchased the best prime available. If the daily delivery did not look perfect back it went and he would purchase the meat elsewhere. The rolls came from Colchester Bakery daily. My brother & I kick ourselves daily for not taking the place over what a gold mine.

Harry's Has Gone Down HILL!!!. I have been going to Harry's weekly each spring and summer since I was a kid. My family and I have always LOVED the place. Though this spring April 07 we have been there 4 times and I dont think we will ever go back. All 4 times we waited about an hour and a half for our burgers and dogs. When we finally got them the hot dogs were burnt black. The kids wouldnt eat them. The hamburgers were also over cooked and not juicy at all.

Where is the friendly experienced staff? The short guy with the dark hair has been there for years, actually, someone said you owns it now? The staff this year spring 07 is RUDE!!! We realized when we got our food over an hour after ordering, to the picnic table that we were missing an order of fries. My 12 year old daughter went back to the stand and politely explained that we were missing a fry. The nasty blonde girl said "No, I gave them to you." My daughter came back to the table in tears. I went back to ask for the missing fry, she gave them to me, but just about threw them at me.

This is not the Harry's I have experienced all my life! Get your act together! Its not just my family that has had this experience. I have talked to several regulars and they have all had similar experiences! Really too bad!!!!!

How sad it is! I heard it is under new management? It really stinks now. Though, the Plum Tomato pizza place up the road is awesome!

Bring back the old Harry's PLEASE!!!!!

you used to order and move right down the line and your food would be ready when you reached the end. They changed that whole routine and it just plain stinks and doesnt work!

Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Known for its burgers, the no frills hot dog stand serves battered fish sandwiches, fried clams, scallops and fried oysters.

Wonderful place. Can someone who has been around Harrys Place for decades, tell me if this is the SAME Harrys Place owned by Harry Kinney? His wife was Frieda and I believe his daughter in law, Sofie Kinney Erskine, worked there until the mid 50's. Is this the same place?? Am doing research on the place and the family...anything will help! Thanks!!

The Best In Connecticut. Harry's cooks all their food to order and is fresh daily. Nothing special is done to the burger but when I say it is without a doubt the most tasty burger in the State of Connecticut, you can take that to the bank. The only bad thing about Harry's is it closes during the winter months.

Dawn Smith Cushman. Harry's burgers are the BEST! They use fresh ground beef, soft rolls, a good slice of onion (if you like), and whatever else you want on it. It doesn't get any fresher or tastier than this!!!

Freshest Burgers Available. I live 8 block away from Harry's Place, but find it very hard to eat there with all of the traffic it draws. Everyone knows about Harry's Place, as it's been a landmard for beach goers for over 40 years. the same recipe is still working. Give ot to them fresh, fast & hot...........& that's how they do it. The lines may look long, but they move quickly with the experienced staff. Harry's Place is worth the trip.............
