This family-run operation offers steak and homespun standards on the way to Waimea Canyon..
In Short
While the name connotes the simplicity of a steakhouse, this restaurant offers much more. One of few great finds on the western side of the island, it's a must on the way to or from Waimea Canyon. Friendly service and a veranda with outdoor seating add to a leisurely dining experience. Western touches abound with log-framed booths, gas lanterns, a wagon and a gift shop stacked with cowboy hats. With a combination of plantation recipes and Pacific Rim traditions, this easygoing eatery offers a fresh approach to down-home dining. Not surprisingly, Wrangler's serves steak and lots of it--thick, hand-selected cuts include filets, T-bones and up to 20-ounce sirloin. Lighter fare includes vegetable tempura and grilled ahi with penne pasta. The salad bar, house soups and fresh-squeezed juices also tempt modest appetites. For dessert, try the heavenly Lilikoi (passion fruit) Chiffon Pie.
