The world's oldest continually operated greyhound track started when T.L. Weaver, a lumber entrepreneur, sold one pine tract to a group of local businessmen who constructed a greyhound track in the 1920s. Unable to pay their debt, they gave the track to the Weaver family. In the early years, the track hosted stock car races and an exhibition football game featuring Jim Thorpe. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Dizzy Dean were regulars during Spring Training.

The Draw
The track offers more than just greyhound races. The T.L. Weaver card room is open January through July and features low stakes card games. The Derby Club, located upstairs in the corner of the grandstand, is for dining, buffet-style. The prime rib has been a favorite for years. Proper dress and reservations are suggested, though. It is open only during live racing. The simulcast and sports plaza building are open year-round.
