Tips for Patriot Arms

February 28, 2013

Stay away from this place. DO NOT CONSIGN GUNS . Not trustworthy and partners Jeff and other owner obviously do not communicate with one another. I consigned three guns with them for sale. They were recommended by a very respected business person in Brandon and I knew Jeff was associated with the Brandon Foundation. Checked in one month after consigning the guns and noticed one was missing from the floor. I asked about it and was told iit had just been sold. They had to wait for three day wait period. I thought that was great. Went back in next day to see what the gun sold for as I had forgot to ask the previous day. Jeff pulled out his sale log and showed me it sold for $600.00. Great! I was only asking $550.00. They got me an extra $50.00 or so I thought. I asked Jeff when check would be sent. I was told the end of the month. I went along with it though I checked my contract and it stated cash payments payed immediately, checks paid within 48 hours of check clearing the bank. It took several weeks for me to get paid and my comission check was based off a $550.00 sale. Their contract states they keep 25% of the final selling price not asking price. When I questioned this, they mysteriously could not locate the paperwork to show me the proof of sale with the date sold and amount paid. The other owner, the bald guy tells me they would not sell a gun for more than asking price. I told him Jeff showed me the the sales log showing a $600.00 purchase price. Response given back, Jeff should not have shown me this log as it is confidential info. Too late for that as it was already done. He then tries to tell me he knows nothing of this situation. I dealt with him three times about this gun. Each time firdt time I heard of it. If I called, answer was, I will call you back. Never got a call back. Eventually after going to the shop I was told they need to research it as the extra $50.00 may have been for ammo or services. Again, I was told they do not sell guns above asking price. I inquired about a muzzleloader that I consigned that was no longer on the floor. It had been off the floor for more than a week. I inquired about my payment for this as there is no waiting period on muzzleloaders and this time I pointed out there time line on the contract for payment. He payed me right there out of the till. I took my other gun that had not sold off consignment. I questioned why the gun never had a price tag on the gun. I was told we never put prices on consigned guns. We always ask for a higher number than the asking price so that we have wiggle room to negotiate the price to get to the consignors asking price. Thought you never sold guns for more than asking price. So if they give a price and the buyer says yes, my guess is they pocket the money, add to the bottom line and no one knows any better. Consignor gets what he wants and they get to pocket some extra cash. I would have thought everything was great if I had not been shown a sales slip showing the gun sold for $600.00. Nearly four months later and they still have never provided me proof of sale price and date sold. I have sold guns in a shop before. This is very easy information to provide to a customer when you are on the up and up. When you are trying to hide something, this info all the sudden becomes very hard to find. My opinion is these guys are either dishonest or inept. Either way, I would not want to deal with. I believe they sell your guns for more than asking price and then keep the money. I will gladly retract this statement of opinion if they would ever provide me proof of the sale of my gun. I want to see a copy of the origonal receipt with any confidential info blocked out. I have done it for others in my business past. It is quite easy to do if you are on the up and up.

The rudest people I have encountered in a business. Over priced and very rude. I will not sit foot in this place. There are cheaper and more pleasant gun shops in the area that deserve your business

What a bunch of nice people. The store has moved to 113-H E. Brandon Blvd. Brandon FL 33511. This is in the Tadpoles shopping Center. Patriot originally opened its doors in this location back in 1997. Still great service and experience.

Great Service Honesty and Knowledge. I too have longer than normal wait times for repairs but I dont have a problem with that because I know the repair is going to be right. I also am a hunter and realize that if I take a rifle / shotgun into a hunting Gun Shop in the middle of Deer Season more especially Rut of Deer season in many southeastern states and I need parts ordered I will probly be waiting. Ive been told before by Patriot that they wouldnt probly get the chance to even inspect or look at my rifle until two - three weeks. Imahunter must be a joke. He ought to go try out Patriot's competition the ones that do repairs.

My Browning needed a new gas port this past season and that part needed ordered also it took a little over a month turn around. Total cost was part and labor including deep clean, scope mount and boresight and laser sighting , 100 dollars. I will continue to send all my business and relatives and friends to Patriot. Jeff is the Best around.

64 Day Gun Repair! Pants on fire!. Jan. 13th, 2011

I have been waiting 64 days for my Gun to be fixed. They finally ordered and got the right parts in last Tuesday Jan. 4th. Let me quote Jeff "I will get it back together as soon as I can" , wait 8 weeks for the part and then 10 more days to put the gun together? Now that's quality service, I fully expect the repair will cost more then the gun did new. What a joke! (Yes sir we have the tire for your car and we'll get that put on your car sometime next week.) Plus, when I bought a new gun there at a discount they wouldn't give a Free Concealed Weapons Class because the gun was not purchased at the MSRP! Certainly a 5 star you know what!

They have had my Remmington 1187 since Nov. 10th for repair. Still waiting for a part. This was suppose to be a 2 week deal. I was told this when I bought a new gun from them at the same time I dropped off my 1187. To top it off the woman on the phone made it clear I was a waste of her time. Take your gun repairs and purchase somewhere else. In Polk county the sales tax is lower and you don't have to wait (3) days on long guns.

Corteous and Helpful staff. They are nice people. They're knolwdgeable, experienced, and care about your return business. If they don't have it they will get it and they stand by the products they sell. Without a doubt, the best place to go for firearms.

Awesome store with excellent knowledge. The personel at Patriot is so patient and knowledgeable. They give you time when you go into the store without feeling rushed to make a sale. I went in several times just to ask their opinion and each time I felt like I was give incredible knowledge but the catch was I didn't purchase anything. The store continued time and time again to answer questions for me each visit and when I finally made a decision Patriot facilitated the sale for me. Very very happy customer and would refer Patriot to anyone in Tampa Bay area. P.S. I drove 55 miles each way for their exceptional service from Bradenton
