Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor..
In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
mmmm appetizers. I love outback because evertime i go i always feel welcomed and the service is excellent. I also love the food they serve. i would highly reccommend the awesome blossom to start with and then for the main course, you can't go wrong with the wallhalla pasta. they sure do know their steak also, so if you're in the mood for some manly grub then this is the place for you. the ceaser salad is to die for and they also serve some heavenly desserts.
The Outback Will Make You Expect More!.
The hostesses greet you with not only a friendly attitude but with an expression of recognition even though it may be the first time they've seen you. The servers are prompt and engage each of their guests personally. I have NEVER had an Outback server respond to a request from me with the reply "This is not my section" or the ever favorite "I'll get your server."
A typical example of their kind of service was when a customer was irate because the Outback had run out of Heinze 57. The manager sent a kitchen employee to the nearest convenience store to buy a bottle. The fact that the real customer complaint was addressed and satisfied was impressive to see. As long as this restaurant keeps that kind of philosphy and hires that kind of manager it will have my appreciation and my business.
Salty Steakhouse. It is quite obvious there are a lot of people who don't know the difference between rotten cuts of meat marinated in salt water to tenderize them vs a nice prime or choice cut from the supermarket. I despise cooks that use a lot of salt and ever restaurant this outfit uses a lot with the exception of the bonefish Grill. I ordered my stek meium rare and it came out well to the point of turnoing to shoe leather. My potato was covered in rock salt. Again, if you want salt you can add it yourself. My steak came out the second time medium well with no pink visible. I gave up. There were no apologies, just the excuse of we must have a new cook. The service was really unacceptable. We will not return!!
