Editorial Review for News Cafe – by Lesley Abravanel
In Short
There's no better place to get a taste of tanned, buffed, sweaty, touristy South Beach than News Cafe. Whether you come by foot or blade, Harley or Ferrari, make sure to snag a table on the cramped outdoor patio. The menu offers some fairly good bites, among them the Middle Eastern platter (hummus, tahini, tabbouleh, and grape leaves), made-to-order hamburgers, gigantic fruit plates and omelettes with all the fixins'.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasNews Cafe is a great place to catch up on current events and fashion trends: Daily newspapers, monthly magazines and tabloids are available at the adjoining newsstand/bookstore.

the people watching here is excellent because it is right on ocean. the service is also fairly quick and they are friendly. the breakfast dishes were ok, although nothing spectacular.

Skip the News Cafe and head right to the Front Porch or the 11th St. Diner. I dined at 3 different places for breakfast while in SoBe and this was my least favorite. The food was mediocre (I think they used frozen breakfast potatoes-- ew) and the service was incredibly slow considering we only ordered omelets and yogurt. Our waiter was probably the least friendly server I encountered. Overall, not worth it. There are plenty of better breakfast joints around.
Pros: large menu w/ lots of options for everyone
Cons: not the greatest breakfast food in SoBe, slow service
