Sour Grapes and Reality
by Try to Tell It Like It Is
I read these reviews dating back to 2008 and I think it's fair to say that any shop will have some good and some bad reviews and experiences.
I suspect that a couple of the newer reviews that referred to Donna's associates being treated like "African Slaves" may be disgrtuntled ex-employees. It's a pretty safe bet.
It's unfortunate that this type of venue can be misused in a moment of resentment when it was designed to be a legitimate forum to offer consumer ratings of local businesses.
Another truth is that bad news travels very quickly and unhappy people are more likely to post than the hundreds of clients who have happily frequented DB&F for the last 16 plus years.
I would encourage other satisfied customers of Donna's to share your experience. MIne has been pleasurable as far as the quality of service and personal attention I receive.
Finally I would say that Redken uses Donna as an artist/instructor, not just in Florida, but around the country. That's the truth.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.
I've been in this salon a few times, and never have I enjoyed the stale trail mix, or the crunch-less animal crackers. You WILL always wait on her, no less than thirty minutes, in her tacky outdated environment.
Her hairstyles are always lacking that special touch, and seems to be stuck in the past. I was never satisfied with my color or cut. My highlights always had grey roots, they we're always brassy and or spotty. Over all i was never satisfied.
Another thing I've noticed, she can't hold on to employees, but I'm guessing that's because she works them like they're animals..or as "African Slaves."
This is a poor excuse for a salon, and does not represent Redken's Gold Salon standards.

I have had great results over and over again with this salon. I have my hair cut and colored and often get complements when out and about town. The pricing is reasonable and I alway enjoy good conversation with Donna and the staff.
This salon offers great nail service too.
I always look forward to my visits.
Donna Barns is very professional and she has a lot of class.

The salon is dirty, never does is smell nice. The snacks left out for clients are normally stale crackers / old chocolate / or even some old left out fruit.
Donna will always have her ipod playing music throughout the salon which is old 80's, youll hear the same songs every time your in there... Overall the salon is just outdated! old! Donna styles and colors will reflect the same results!
Here is what you can expect:
1. You will always wait 30 mins to and hour on Donna. Then once your finally in her chair she will juggle doing your hair and someone else right next to you. She does not respect anyone's time or schedule!
2. She may be an hairstylist educator of sorts, But you will hardly ever get a good color change from her. She's horrible with blondes especially! And typically if she cant have one of her little assistant slaves blow you dry, she will half dry you herself. Typically by blowing the front of your hair dry, and leaving the back half done/damp/unstyled.
3. This salon is suppose to be about customer service, but i see more of the other stylists catering to Donna and the clients when they can. Donna's attitude towards her co workers is DISGUSTING!!! i feel horrible for her assistants (which are more like slaves). I would never recommended anyone working for her unless you like being treated like an African slave.
4. Lastly... after waiting an hour, getting brassy orange results (after being promised a Khaki to wheat color she calls it), a crooked eye brow wax, and being half blown dry.... she will then charge you well over $100 and stand around waiting for a tip.
Do not visit this place if you want someone who really has your best interest! This women will ruin your day!
if you have lots of time and lots of cash this is the place

I went in to have my hair cut and colored. The first time it took 3 hours which I assumed was because it was my first visit. I will say that my hair looked very nice when I left. The second time I went in, this time it took 3-1/2 hours and now 3 people were working on it, so the final bill for a cut, color and eyebrow wax, $130.00. I couldn't believe it. The owner, Donna, had someone else in the shop style my hair which I had assumed she would do. Again, my hair looked very nice but it took too long and is way too expensive (because of having to tip three people). I made an appointment to go back again but decided to cancel and find somewhere else to go. I told the receptionist this thinking she would relay this to the owner who would then contact me and maybe we could clear this up. I was not opposed to going back again and having one person work on my hair and maybe we could get the timeframe down into the 1-1/2 hour range. Well, I was very surprised to never hear from her. Apparently business is very good in Titusville!!
