In Short – Owner Sonny Tillman has been serving the same Southern barbecue and fixings since 1968. A common roadside stop, Sonny's offers low prices and barbecue; roomy booths, wagon-wheel chandeliers and homey craft art are the standard dining room decor. House barbecue sauce, available sweet, regular or hot, spices up large helpings of smoked beef, pork, chicken, turkey and ribs. Sides like fresh fried okra, onion rings and barbecue beans complement the entrees.

This location is sub-par to Orlando's Sonny's

My first experience with a Sonny's BBQ was in Orlando. We were blown away; the atmosphere, the service, and food was exceptional. I was so happy to see one locally in Orange City, however, none of the aforementioned attributes that made me love Sonny's in Orlando were in the Orange City location.
The food is really inconsistent, the portions are even more inconsistent, and the service is also hit & miss. You can get one of the waitresses that waits on you attentively, or you can get one of the two I've come to know as serve you & forget about you, which includes the time she forgot to bring me the check and I had to go to the take out desk to get someone to get my waitress & my check.
This location has a long way to go to be as good as the Orlando location, and for us we've decided not to return to this location & just go to Sonny's when we're out in the Orlando area.

Every year I come home to DeLand and the first stop is sonny's bbq. Love the food and the service. Atleast once everyday on vacation we stop in for lunch or dinner , no matter where we have spent the day. If in Orlando or Daytona , we always drive straight to sonny's. It's worth the trip and the time. It's one of the reasons we come home every year, now living in ny state, They sure don't know how to make bbq they way we want it....Always Sonny's DBizzaro
