Hire morning waitstaff, that enjoys their jobs. I have been in on 2 separate occasions in the past 6weeks. It would be nicer to feel that I'm welcome and not just a hurry up please. Saw my waiter once after the food runner dropped of food. And that was to drop the check.and he only had 1 other table. I'm a local, and it used to be my favorite place ever to have breakfast.
Great food at great prices – Harbor Docks is the real deal. The seafood is directly off the docks and is as fresh as it can be. The prices are very good and even the lunch portions are generous. We will be back.
Very Mediocre Food – Our family of 6 ordered 6 different dishes. Only 1 (the fried scallops) was decent. The others didn't taste good, the portions were meager, and they just weren't worth the prices. The crab cakes were awful--the crab was mashed into a puree. The broiled red snapper with artichoke was extremely bland. The dinner salads were served with dressing that was way too sour (Apparently, the chef didn't do a taste test.) The service was fair. However, we were sat at a table in a dim room with a really bright and annoying light over the table. Overall, the food was very disappointing. We will not return.
Not worth it – My rating is based on the food, not the service. We were disappointed. This place had the recommendation of our hotel's front desk. We had high hopes, but it just wasn't that great. We went on the second-to-last night of our honeymoon (our first in Destin). Ordered the smoked fish app, which was pretty good, but $12 good?? Not so much. Drinks were strong. His 2 pieces of yellowtail Nigiri were good. I ordered the Seafood Platter ($28); my hubby ordered the Surf 'n' Turf--his steak was nice. My oysters were tiny (we had just been in Apalach, but still!), soft-shell crab was not as good as I've had before, scallops were good. I am a seafood freak, so you know something is not right when I enjoy my baked potato the most. Service was fantastic though--a great group of ladies work there. We paid almost the exact same amount for dinner the next night at Pranzo in Ft. Walton Beach (Italian, not seafood restaurant) and were WAY more impressed and satisfied.
So called fresh is not what it advertised – By recommendation from a bartender, my fmaily and I drove to the parking lot and had our car valet parked. As usual, we ordered the freshest protein in the "catch of the day" section. To our disgust the tuna seem three days old, minimum, and the server was arguing the fat that it was caught that day or evening before. I forgot to inform him that I have been consuming and cooking fish that swims before he was born.
If you like truely fresh seafood, avoid this place... another tourist trap.
Nothing special, only had sushi though – My husband and I ate here last night at the sushi restaurant. It looked entertaining to see the chefs slicing and dicing at one of the stations. The restaurant wasn't shabby but yucky vinyl covered seats and dirty chairs. We ate 4 rolls, my husband liked 2 of them, but none of them really appealed to me. Very basic sushi, nothing that will draw me back.
Parking SUCKED! It's a pretty popular place to hang out I suppose. By the time we left, there were quite a few people sitting around drinking. Atmosphere was pretty good. Had live music on the other side of the restaurant. It was really an all-purpose restaurant.
dosen't live up to the hype – I have no idea why this place is listed at number one. Two of the four dishes my party got were disgusting and almost inedible. Not worth it!
