Awesome Food and Service. Was there for lunch last week 1/7/09. Had to share the seating area with some birds but it was actually nice. The food was so much better than we expected from this kind of establishment. So many Pier Restaurants rely on the fact that your sitting on a pier outdoors and forget about quality of food. This place put both first. The waiter that served us was great also. Just a surprisingly pleasant experience all around. There is a place in Ocean City Md. called Thrashers that serves great fries. If they had something special like that, you would not be able to get in. Thanks for a terrific meal.
Jimmy Buffet Style.
Kick back....sandals and shorts or whatever else you want to wear. Eat on the pier covered by a roof or inside protected from the wind. We ate outside with a steady breeze and watched the waves, the beach, sharks and a stingray below.
I had a blackened fish sandwich. My wife had shrimp and crab legs. It was all very good and cheap for the type of food. We had ice tea to drink and the total with tip was around $30. Our refills were quick as well as some extra dip I requested.
Jimmy Buffet would approve I think.
When the weather's nice, there's no better place to have a beer and admire the view..
In Short
Wander out onto the pier and grab a seat, preferably out in the back where you're virtually outside, but with a roof over-head. If you want to stroll back to the fishing pier, you'll have to pay a couple bucks (more if you're really fishing). Do keep an eye on the kids, as there's not a whole lot of protection to keep them from flying over the wall into the ocean down below. A full menu's available, but the highlights are the fresh seafood--most of fried perfectly, including gator bites (yes, that means alligator)--and burgers. Beer is cold and cheap, especially during happy hour.
Great Seafood Shack. Wow! What a find. On the Pier at Daytona Beach Shore's, overlooking the ocean. By no means fancy, just the nicest staff, anywhere. Especially, Tracy, the bartender. Great personality, and makes you feel special. Everday fresh seafood, outstandin Grouper Fingers, Spicy boiled shrimp, and specialty drinks. No shoes, no attitude, just a great place to unwind, and forget about the everyday business life, that you came to the beach for. Can't wait to go back!
