Friendly staff, GREAT selection!. The store is great. There is a huge selection for ANY occasion, including professional quality cake decorating, and candy making equipment. There's also fine quality gifts for children, including melissa and doug. I typically don't pay with checks, but if i did, and they didn't accept it, even though i do live in Ridgefield, i would be so pleased with the selection, that i wouldn't even feel the need to go into an egotistical rage about my watch and car :)

WARNING MERCHANT DISCRIMINATES!!!. Warning to all consumers! This merchant discriminates against customers who live outside of Ridgefield!

Incident Date: February 25, 2008

My wife and I live in Danbury, CT and frequent shops in Ridgefield, CT because our children attend school in town. My wife and I went shopping for party supplies at Party Depot in Ridgefield for my sons up coming birthday. We acquired approximately $80 of party items and went up to the counter to pay. After all of the items were rung up and totaled we asked who we could make the check payable to. When we handed the check over to the lady at the register she looks it over and exclaims out loud in front of everybody. Oh NO I AM SORRY WE DON'T ACCEPT CHECKS FROM PEOPLE LIVING IN DANBURY! We only accept checks from residents of Ridgefield. Of course by now we have a line of people behind us and we are getting a stare from the cashier like we are second class citizens. Here I am standing their with a Rolex on my wrist an expensive German car key dangling off my key chain and I am being geographically profiled. I am from Danbury therefore I don't have the money to cover my check! We of course let the cashier and manager now how disgusted we were with their discrimination policy but they did not care. CASH OR CREDIT CARD ONLY FOR PEOPLE FROM DANBURY!

Never in my life have I been so embarrassed and insulted from a merchant. This treatment and discrimination is uncalled for. Either you accept checks or you don't! You shouldn't sit there and watch someone write out their check and look it over to see where they live and decide whether to accept it. It should be illegal to discriminate against a consumer by where they live! What?s next? Is this merchant going to stop taking payments from non-white costumers? Everyone BOYCOTT this merchant. There are plenty of places where you can buy overpriced party favors made in China. You certainly don't need to be insulated and discriminated from the Party Depot in Ridgefield, CT.
