Just steps away from the Silver Queen Gondola that travels to the top of Aspen Mountain, the Little Nell is one of the area's most luxurious hotels. Skiers are treated to a gear drop-off, where skis are exchanged for warm slippers. From there, it's a quick jaunt to the hot tub for an apres-ski dip. Back in the lobby, a two-sided wood fireplace creates a warm welcome in from the elements.

The Details
You can almost smell the mountain air from the comfort of these spacious, mountain-motif rooms. Each one features a gas fireplace, two separate sinks, heavenly feather beds and a European bath. Little extras include complimentary bottled water, newspapers, and humidifiers and umbrellas tucked away in the closet. A small fitness facility offers weight and cardio machines as well as steam rooms and massage. The formal dining room, Montagna, serves a high-priced selection of Alpine-inspired cuisine.

In winter, the intimate living room and bar are full of well-heeled skiers. Summers, a cosmopolitan crowd, jetting in for the Aspen Music Festival and the International Design Conference, gathers for drinks out by the alpine pool. With its location at the base of Aspen Mountain, this ski-in, ski-out property is one of the most popular in the area.

Each of the 92 elegantly decorated guest rooms and 15 suites has down-filled sofa cushions, oversized beds and a gas-log fireplace. Most have balconies with mountainside or town views. The gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain is just a few steps away, and there's a ski concierge to fine-tune guests' ski equipment. The award-winning in-hotel restaurant, Montanga, serves local game (elk, quail, pheasant) and fish (trout and fresh-water salmon).
