Resort NO....Mountain YES.... Excellent location from Denver (45 mins. w/o traffic) to avoid extra hrs. of traffic sitting to other resorts. Coolest staff & ski patrol you'll find in CO. Cheapest lift tix in the state. Burgers for under $5 & PBRs for under $3! Great intermediate terrain. Seperate mountain for beginners with easy access from parking lot via shuttle every 5 mins. Some crazy expert/black diamond terrain for those who enjoy hiking a bit. Empty "lodges"/huts/shacks to enjoy & warm up in ON THE MOUNTAIN, without the pretentious, money-to-burn crowds. Some folks complain of Loveland's cold, but I say, DO'NT SKI IF YOU DO'NT LIKE THE COLD!! I've lived in CO for 15 yrs. now & have skied all over the state. Being picky, the trails are'nt that long at Loveland, but you sure can get a lot of them in in a day. The overall feel of Loveland is that you're at a place that focuses on the enjoyment of skiing/boarding rather the enjoyment of cleaning out your bank account & to me, that's what I go to the mountains for! Thanks for continuing to be a "mountain" more than a "resort" Loveland, it's what true skiers/boarders want! Peace & Love & THINK SNOW!!
Great skiing at this two-in-one ski area above Eisenhower Tunnel..
In Short
Loveland is best known for affordable ticket rates and quick-stop skiing access, but not for extensive terrain. There are actually two Loveland ski areas located right next to each other--Loveland Valley and Loveland Basin. Steep terrain at Loveland Basin usually keeps beginner skiers at a distance, or at least on the lower runs. The entire area offers passes and deals that appeal to families and frequent Loveland skiers.
