The Scene
Despite a remodeling, Joe's bright, minimalist quarters can still seem cramped. The hallway-cum-dining-room is the place to watch the kitchen work its magic. For a more romantic tête-a-tête, sit on the back patio.
The Food
If you usually can't afford a gourmet dinner, come to Joe's and order prix fixe. Using farm-fresh ingredients, chef/owner Joe Miller's four-course dinners are both enticing and affordable. Comforting mainstays such as medallions of veal and roast beef are flawlessly executed. The crepinette of pork loin is cooked to rosy perfection and served perched atop garlic mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms. Miller also pulls out all the stops for brunch, with inventive dishes like blue crab hash, brioche French toast and salmon-and-chili huevos rancheros topping the list.

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary and didn't have reservations, so we got put back at the "chef's table" across from the noisy kitchen and by the bathrooms, best bad table we ever had!!!! This was so awsome, we got free appetizers and dessert because of the "bad" location and full introductory for each from the chef himself!!! He was HILARIOUS and charming. The dishes were definitely expensive, probably over priced, so this was lthe only way we could have afforded to eat like this. I would go again to sit there, or I would love to try the pre-fix lunch. The food was delicious even if it was overpriced!
Pros: delicous food, great chef
Cons: expensive!!!

I live in the area and I have been here few times for special occasions. it is a little pricey, but it is a michelin star restaurant now, so maybe it should be expected. what is not expected is the food being less than great, and in my opinion, for what it tries to be, it is average. I tried tasting menus on occasions and a la carte items on other occasions, and I was never disappointed, but never blown away. overall, I recommend to try it, after all there are people that swear by it, and I'll still go back when I want something more sophisticated and I don't feel like driving.
