“In all seriousness, it's not that bad a place, and it is really fun to sit down in a really local, really tiny pub where the regulars you see have been going daily since before you were born.”
“People go there to have a good pint for a reasonable price and spend some time sitting around a bar with some old friends and maybe pump some quarters into an ancient juke box.”
“great place to relax after work with friends.”
“However, take the plunge on a weekday night (when it's not too crowded with people who can't get in to J-tree or the Burren) and you'll find a pleasant mix of dirty locals and amazing prices.”

The local hangout.
Sligo's is the place everybody nearby has heard about, but not gone. It's the dirty place you always walk past on your way to Redbones or the Burren. However, take the plunge on a weekday night (when it's not too crowded with people who can't get in to J-tree or the Burren) and you'll find a pleasant mix of dirty locals and amazing prices.
The best part is, for the price they charge you for a beer, you'll forget how it looks and how creepy some of the clientele are before you've spent as much as you would've for one cocktail somewhere else.

Last dive in town. With Davis Square Somerville getting more and more yuppified it's nice to have one last bastion of scuminess. The beer is really cheap, there's a backdoor to escape out of and the place smells like a mens room. And speaking of mens rooms, Sligo's has no t.p., one can, no lock on the door and no mirror. That being said the hipsters and yuppies have discovered the 'Sligo' as well and have nearly ruined the weekend scene. The weeknights are still good however and the weekdays even better. If you need to be left alone while you drink a beer than Sligo's is the place. The men at the bar have seen almost as many tours in Nam as they have at the bar itself. But unlike Charlie they won't smoke you out, they'll leave you alone. AS for food I think they sell chips.
place sux. its no bigger than your bathroom, stinks like sewage, the bartender jerry (irish guy) is an a-hole, wont let you enjoy your time there by singing along to the irish songs. place shouldnt even be considered
Cheapest beer I can find outside of my refridgerator.. A pint of Guiness for only $2.50! Unless this bar was filled with pedifiles and republicans, how could you keep me away?! Actually, the people (workers and patrons) here are great and I always feel at home when visitiing for more reasons than the cheap beer. I like their jukebox too!
Least pretentious bar in town.. I love Sligo Pub. People dont go there to be seen or to pick up people half their age. People go there to have a good pint for a reasonable price and spend some time sitting around a bar with some old friends and maybe pump some quarters into an ancient juke box. And thats refreshing in Boston.
Grungy, intimate Davis Square dive keeps loyal locals happy with cheap drinks and cramped quarters..
In Short
Weekend nights can get a bit crowded with overflow from the neighboring Burren, but most nights find a good mix of colorful locals, newly minted hipsters and crusty older gentlemen engaged in Guinness-soaked arguments. The tight quarters of the railroad-style bar ensure that, for better or worse, everybody talks to everybody else. The jukebox is pure classic rock, with Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and Tom Petty in nightly rotation.
Hate to see more people here. ...because it is so good as it is. I have been coming here for years. Now it is crowded on weekdays, but on weeknights it is a great place for dirt cheap drinks and a real bar, just please respect the people who are there. They are not there because it is hip or cool, they are there to drink for cheap, so don't mess it up for them.
