“Food and decorations are authentic, great off-the-beaten-path restaurent.”
“Hey, the beers are good too!”
“Authentic Mexican food from Oaxaca.”
“The food is well prepared, the flavors of the food are detectable because they're not masked by fiery chilli, it's not pretentious and above all the waiters leave you alone to enjoy your meal and don't suddenly pop up to ask you, "Is the food alright?”
“The food is pretty good but absolutely not worth putting up with that witch!”
Authentic Mexican food from Oaxaca..
I've traveled and eaten a fair amount in Mexico and I have to say that this little restaurant in the center of Arlington MA is totally authentic and that's a refreshing change in the world of Taco Bell, On the Border and all the other pseudo Mexican places I've eaten in. The food is well prepared, the flavors of the food are detectable because they're not masked by fiery chilli, it's not pretentious and above all the waiters leave you alone to enjoy your meal and don't suddenly pop up to ask you, "Is the food alright?" just when you've taken a mouthful, or push you to drink the latest flavor of Pucker Margarita!
The only bad experience I've had there was when boorish over-loud people demanded what I suppose they're used to - the Taco Bell EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!! Woof, Woof - or does the Chihuahua yip.......
Hey, the beers are good too!
Casual Mexican eatery brings the authentic flavors of Oaxaca and Veracruz to Arlington.. While enchiladas, quesadillas and burritos have a place on the menu, it's Zocalo's authentic offerings (chiles rellenos, queso fundido, pollo con mole) that help separate this restaurant from the pack. Upbeat patrons down glasses of white sangria while watching guacamole being made table-side. Colorful Mexican glassware and masks lend a festive vibe to the proceedings.
loved it. delicious food, casual but attentive service, yummy sangria--not sure why other reviewer dissed chips and salsa. i thought both were excellent. red and green salsas were both great. i lived in central texas for 10 years so i've had my share of chips and salsa.
Chips and salsa?. I would suggest ordering the chiles rellenos, although the chips and salsa were very disappointing. I could get better chips and salsa at a grocery store. I also know of a certain taqueria that fries their own chips. For a nice Mexican restaraunt, I expected the same from Zocalo.
very noisy, great food. The food was excellent, however the noise level was unbearable.
Awful service -bday dinner disaster!. We sat down at 9:30pm and told the waitress we were celebrating a 30th birthday and wanted to be sure that we could get dessert after dinner knowing that the kitchen closed at 10pm, she said no problem. We ordered quickly and then went to smoke. A female came outside and abrasively yelled, "hey guys, your food is getting cold" and then walked back in. After eating without any liquids, the waitress handed us the bill. I reminded her of our birthday dessert conversation. She said the kitchen closed. We tried ordering drinks but then the bar was closed. The hurry-up woman was the owner who made it clear that we should leave. Expensive entrees, awful service and a mean owner who needs a vacation. 4 out of the 5 of us dining there work in the restaurant industry and none of us had ever experienced anything like this.
Yummy Mexican in Arlington. GREAT PLACE! Food and decorations are authentic, great off-the-beaten-path restaurent. Yummy burritos, and I definitely suggest ordering the mango sangria. I'm not sure what the earlier reviewer was talking about w/ regards to the "witch". All of the employees I've met are very nice.
Mean and obnoxious owner. The service was unbelievably bad. The owner is this absolute witch. Angry, totally disrespectful and arrogant. She actually SCREAMED at me! The food is pretty good but absolutely not worth putting up with that witch!!! "I own this place and I'll do WHATEVER I want. You are stupid." This was in response of me asking for a slice of lime, which they were out of.
Andys. Food and service was excellent with a smile. Price was very reasonable.
