A classy inn near a variety of activities.. The Scene
Like many island inns, this building was originally the home of a whaling captain. It was constructed in 1860 and still feels, in many ways, like a private residence. Guests lounge in the courtyard and well-appointed garden, and enjoy afternoon tea and/or cocktails served on the terrace or in the garden. The atmosphere is luxurious and unquestionably adult.

The Details
Brass lamps, mahogany furnishings, hand-carved four-poster beds...no expense has been spared in the beautiful selection of pieces that adorn each room. The attached restaurant, L'etoile, is acclaimed throughout the island--you need go no further than your own front door for elegant, candlelit dining. The inn enjoys proximity to the Edgartown Art Gallery, lovely shops, restaurants and a bike path.
