Sight Lines
The tract of land it's built on includes the remnants of gigantic limestone quarries, which are the centerpieces of Black Diamond's Quarry Course. Native vegetation, wild flowers, large boulders, and up to 100-foot drops are also course signatures.
Doing the Loop
In 1982, Stan Olsen and master golf course architect, Tom Fazio (who also designed World Woods), turned an abandoned ranch along Florida's nature coast into an idyllic getaway.
Watch out for
The quarries border holes 13-17 and the 15th has been called the most picturesque hole in Florida. If 15 is the most picturesque, 16 may be the most challenging. The 435, par-4 has no relief left, and those with a tendency to hook off the tee will lose their ball in the menacing quarry.
Clubhouse Chatter
Situated on 1,240 of private Citrus County acres, the course is reserved for the 800 families (and their guests) who live there.
