Cross-country skiing--one of the most serene but physically demanding of sports--took place at Soldier Hollow in three different events in 2002: First was the straight-up cross-country skiing events, ranging from the 1.5km sprint to the 50km endurance. Second was the Nordic combined. Third was the biathlon: a cross-country skiing/rifle sharpshooting combined event.

The Scene
Soldier Hollow lies at the eastern edge of Wasatch Mountain State Park. With an annual snowfall of 84 inches, snow is likely to be machine-made fairly often.
