Did not want to serve Black customers

I went to a wedding at Mr. G.'s on October 17, 2009. As the waitress was serving the salads, I noticed that everyone around me, on the side of me, in the back of me were served their salads, but my table was not. Once the waitress looked over, I guess she decided to serve my table. There were only five people at my table, she served the white customers first. Then, alas, she served my salad but did not give my daughter a salad. I had to ask for one for my daughter. The same thing happened when it came time for the food. Everyone was served around us, our table was served last. Let me say we were not the last table, there was a table behind us who was also served before us. I think that this is appalling in 2009, and I will not go to this restaurant again. I have told all of my friends here in Milwaukee not to patronize this restaurant and we are passing the word along, Mr. G's supper club staff have a problem when it comes to serving people of color!!! Never again will this happen to me! I have too much money, and can go elsewhere in Door County to enjoy a nice mean!!!

Worst Dinning Experience Ever

Made a reservation for 16 + 1 baby. When we arrived there was no high chair set up and no where to put one... the waitress suggested I set my child away from the table by himself. We ended up splitting up our group to accommodate my 15mo old child. Waitress was not friendly at all. Glasses were chipped. At one point my child was screaming (not continuous and not that loudly), keep in mind this is a pub/restaurant not a country club... I was trying to get him calmed down. I didn't realize it was going to be such an issue. Our waitress informed us the noise was bothering the other folks in the restaurant and I'd have to leave with my child. Our waitress said in over 25 years she had never seen a child so noisy. I worked in a restaurant for four years in high school so I have an idea how kids act and my child was in no way out of control. They should have informed us when we made our reservation that children were unwelcome. I was very offended and would never recommend Mr. G's. The economy must be doing just fine in Door County as the owner didn't seemed concerned at all about our displeasure or losing business. I'm really at a loss on this place.

Best Food in Wisconsin

The food was spectacular, and the service was excellent; my waitress Christina was an absolute peach, so sweet and always smiling. The bartender Patty, whom I have seen there since I started going, always has a lively conversation going and serves an array of drinks. Bob and Mary are the proud owners of Mr. Gs, and both have been working there for 25 years. It is a warm, quaint place, with a real fire going all winter long. I have been going there for about 11 years, and it is always the same faces year after year. I have never had a bad meal there. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area, or anyone within a couple hours drive, you wont be disappointed.

• Cons: It's only open for dinner!
