My fiance and I made a trip to Lake Geneva and stayed at Eleven Gables. It was wonderful! The location is perfect- it took us five minutes to walk downtown, the lake is directly across the street from the Inn, and it's off toward the end of a quiet street corner. We walked back and forth in between downtown and the Inn several times of the day. There's also a private pier that you have access to as a guest. The owner, Gary, is a very sweet man with an adorable red hound dog. Both are super friendly. My fiance and I had a great little talk with Gary in the morning about dogs and rescue shelters. Gary seemed like a really nice guy- he gave us several recommendations for restaurants and told us about a beautiful path around the lake. The room itself (The Rose Room) was cute, quaint, and totally reminded me of something out of 1940. I loved it! The Inn was great too- nothing modern or new about it. Because the Inn is so old (I think it was built in 1847?), the halls are creaky, the walls are thin, and you can hear people's conversations in the hallway. However, that's expected and part of the charm of staying at a B&B as opposed to a hotel chain down the street. The breakfast was very minimal (granola and yogurt with coffee) but there are several cute breakfast places down the street. We're definitely coming back soon and next time, bringing our dog
I stayed at this inn a little while ago. I was amazed at how nice the place really is. It's quaint and quiet. There was a fireplace in my room. The location is perfect - within short walking distance to all of the main attractions in town. And, the hotel has free parking. What a great place to get away from it all. They serve a small breakfast to get your day started on a good note. And the beds are so comfortable you don't want to get up. My dog enjoyed a romp on the lake shore path and was made quite welcome here. Try it once. You will look for excuses to travel to Lake Geneva just so you can stay here. If you are looking for a private, quiet place to reconnect for a night or two you will enjoy your stay here. The house is classic lake house. Thanks! See ya soon!
Prime location! walking distance to almost everything! great pier so awesome that we can bring our dog to vacation with us! everything at the cottagewas perfect!
Well, I stayed there for five nights. The place is fairly inexpensive and you get the place where to stay over the night and in daytime you can hang out in pier, if you have to plan your trip, browse the web or just to have some snack. They have a free Wi-Fi, which is fast so you can watch netflix if it is cold and rains like it did most of the stay. You get to have free coffee and tea with granola and yogurt on the front porch in the morning. The location is great, right in a heart of Lake Geneva and the lake shore path
This was our first stay in the Cottages on the lake. Previously, we were in the room with a lake view and King suite, which was two room suite with a king bed and dressing room. The cottage is like the Suite an very private with two rooms, since we brought our Nuffie along this time we stayed here. It has a refrigerator and mico with a real deer head above the fireplace. Even with the hot weather we chilled out for two days we stayed. The innkeeper Peter really seem to put great effort in ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of our stay. They showed us were the lake path begins in front of the property so we could walk the dogs in the morning, and told us about the Miracle fence and property and the story of the Stone House. It is well worth the trip. We took our cure of the dog and went along for a long walk on the path then jumped in the lake when we got back to the inn. The cottage is a short distance, three blocks, to the main shopping and dinning areas of downtown Lake Geneva while being secluded away from traffic noise. There are to immediate building or business surrounding the cottage which adds to the peacefulness of the area as well. The cottage isn't the "poshest" place we stayed, in comparison to the suite at the inn. It doesn't need to be. It is exactly what we look for: clean, comfortable place to chill out for the weekend at a good rate. It will be our "go to" place when we plan our next trip to Wisconsin, we'll definitely be back. The owners were kind enough to show us the ice house after the grumpy kids checked out and it was real cool with sky view windows above the beds. I should point out the grounds were very dark at night so were were able to play movies on our portable projector outside on the deck and see the stars. Being located in a very upscale neighborhood the outside was very quite. No honing of horns or dumpsters being unloaded in the early a.m. The kids will love the many custom nooks and hideaways in the ice house if we bring them next summer. The private pier they have is great, we spent the whole weekend swimming and noodling. The water temperature was like a bath some regulars told us it was like that all this summer with the heat wave. They no longer serve breakfast due to lack of demand but provide a healthy smack and coffee in the morning of Greek yogurt, fruit, and organic milk and granola. IF you want to eat pig it is best to go downtown there are some awesome restaurants three blocks away. They did provide an outdoor charcoal grill and table so we didn't have to eat out much. All in all is was a jolly good time.
The innkeeper was very nice and knowledgeable. The bed was comfy and room
clean. We really liked that we could bring our dog. The bathroom was
nicely updated and the kitchenette was a nice added bonus. We would
definitely stay here again - especially because it's so close to downtown
and has a view of the lake.
Thanks for the wonderful hospitality. This is a great place to escape Chicago.
My daughter and I stayed here a few weeks ago. I cannot recommend it enough. I have told all my friends. From the moment we arrived Sadie made us feel so welcome. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. The food was so so. And best of all was her lovely dog "EB"! My daughter fell in love with EB. They are within minutes of great restaurants, shopping and right on the lake.
Very nice! I recently stayed here for a wedding and was not disappointed. From the reservation process through checkout the staff did not disappoint. Everyone was extremely nice, courteous and professional. The Hotel was very peaceful and quiet, a quaint laid back vibe. We parked our car in the parking lot and walked our entire stay. The room was very nice, well put together and extremely clean. Most everything about the room was normal hotel including the average size bathroom. The toilet was an oversized high rise one, which was a nice touch, all modern toilets should be this size. We replaced the old ones in our house years ago and well worth the upgrade. Glad to see some hotels are starting to catch on. The highlight of this hotel is the location. They are exceptionally centrally located on the lake from the wedding venue. I'm not a water skier, but the lake looked great. We did enjoy walking on the lake path though, and had some fun ringing the expect a Magical Bell! The backdrop for the wedding was absolutely exquisite! A beautiful white gazebo was the perfect setting and everything seemed perfect. After attending a wedding, dancing and a few cocktails my only disappointment was getting something to eat after hours. Room service shut down pretty early, no vending and the mini-bar was kind of sparse on the food. All in all, it was a nice stay! If you go to Lake Geneva be sure and check out the Yogurt Shop, I believe it's called Yoggzzes. It is an great example of automation and simplicity with no waiting, a truly one women show. All in all a very pleasant time in Lake Geneva .
This was our second stay in the Cottage at the Eleven Gables. Previously, we were in the room with a lake view and King Suite, which was a two-room suite with a king bed. The cottage was very private and had two rooms, since we brought our nuffie and golden along this time. With refrigerator and microwave, there was nothing more we needed to snuggle buy the fire for the two rainy days we stayed. The innkeepers, Frank and Claire, are a delightful couple who really seem to put great effort in ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of their guest. They showed us were the lake path begins in front of the property so we could walk the dogs in the morning, and told us about the Miracle wall down the path. It is well worth the trip, even if the weather is cold. We took our cure for the dogs and went along with the rain. The inn is a sort distance to the main shopping and dining areas of downtown Lake Geneva while being secluded away from traffic noise. There are no immediate buildings or businesses surrounding the cottage which adds to the peacefulness as well. The cottage isn't the "poshest" place we stayed, in compared to the suites at the inn. It doesn't need to be. It is exactly what we look for: clean, comfortable accommodations at a reasonable rate. It will be our "go to" place when we plan a trip to Wisconsin, and we'll definitely be back. Lake Geneva Lakefront. A very eclectic 1850’s Carpenter’s Gothic Inn/B&B with cottage and ice house for families and ‘friends’. We are located three blocks from downtown Lake Geneva’s Rivera on the lakeshore path, in a quiet estate setting-- close to downtown but not in the downtown. The inn has a lakefront view, private pier for swimming either people or dogs, and fishing. All rooms have private baths and include a continental breakfast and free WiFi. Live web-cam. Must love dogs!
