Not Cool.... Bad Rebuild on my 454 Chevy..... My 88' Chevy Truck needed a fresh 454 c.i.d. engine. I found Pacific Engine Rebuilders, Inc. through the nickel want adds as the only one that would touch a big block motor. (or so I thought being new to this area)

The engine took forever for the rings to seat. Gas mileage was poor from the start but was worse when they got done.

You would hope that a new engine wouldn't use much oil. At least not like an engine with over 200,000 miles on it. But that's not the case with this one. It leaks and burns oil like they didn't bother with the engine rebuild.

The truck blows a serpentine belt every 500 miles. Come to find out, that Pacific Engine Rebuilders used the wrong main shaft pulley for the belt and it's off by over 1/2 an inch.

Pacific Engine Rebuilders charged me to resurface the fly wheel for the new clutch but a transmission shop here in my local area showed me that they didn't bother to do the work.

Even having 200,000 plus miles on the truck, it used to pull my 16' work trailer without a problem. It's been to southern California and back several times. In that trailer was my tools for work and my full dresser Harley. After Pacific Engine Rebuilders got done it won't pull a hill with my tool trail at all.

The owner of this company refuses to talk about it. His employees are less than qualified to do the work. Just like the last two people that commented on this site, he was full of excuses and how it's not his fault.

I can't stress enough to anyone wanting an engine rebuilt.... Stay Away From Pacific Engine Rebuilders, Inc. I'm out $6,000.00 dollars and consider it stolen at this point.

Burned customer. Sad to say I also had a very bad experience with Pacific Engine. The rebuilt engine failed in just 2000 miles. They refused to work with me to get the problem fixed. All they offered was excuses and to shift blame to others. Their Better Business Bureau reliability rating is a “D” on an A-to-F scale. Yes, that is a “D” just like a bad grade in school, nothing to write home about. I am placing this message to warn potential future victims…Pacific Engine’s work is inferior and they will treat you like garbage after taking your money. Be sure to check out their BBB rating before throwing away your hard-earned money.

They're there own worst enemy. Didn?t get what I wanted and paid for! Paper work reflected different parts then I wanted, Very bad quality, engine had very low miles under 2k, low oil pressure 17 lbs at idle, builder said that was good enough, safety equipment shuts engine off less than 20 lbs, u would think they would know that, knocking at the main bearing and rocker arm noise, pulled it and returned under warranty it was disassembled in front of me, we seen damage of rear main bearing, crank man said something went thru it and the builder was pulling chunks of gasket from oil pump screen, which they cleaned along with other major parts, picked it up few days later, paper work stated there was nothing wrong with it, checked all clearances, heads so forth, how can that be, seen the damaged bearing my self along with them, it was like polished chrome, not enough clearance using plastic gauge would have shown that. reinstall in the engine, what do I hear! valve train noise again, was told again that?s normal, Notta, after the warranty was up and I was tired of the noise so I looked to see what could be making the noise, boy was I shocked, I found that the rocker arms were completely worn out and lifter preload was all over.105. the valve springs were not installed correct, best at 90lbs S/B 110 thru 120 for the camshaft to work thru the rpm range, also found that they used defective retainers, which the manufacture replaced at n/c to them, now you would think they would change them for me because they made the mistake, no they said, here yah go, and you change them.i mean they were so defective how could you miss that after two inspections, would be like missing a thumb from the hand.they just slamed it together didn't check any clearances what so ever,Paid good money for junk, if you had engine work there please contact me. email me >caughtyaw@hotmail. com, With that said, and the product that I received I can only say, Don?t go there unless you have to, there are other places to spend ur money
