Great experience

I just had the Northwest Tan service done, and it was a wonderful experience. The woman at the front desk was warm and helpful, and I was taken to the body treatment area almost immediately. I was asked to change into a robe (very soft!) and sandals and lock all my things (clothes, purse, etc) in a garment bag attached to a hanger. You have to hook the key onto your robe, and I thought it was a pretty neat idea...I felt my belongings were safe.
I then sat in a dim, relaxing area of the spa and was offered a beverage. I probably waited about 10 minutes, then Michael (she's one of the body treatment/massage gals) came out and gave me a basin of warm soapy water to soak my feet in, along with a warm neck pillow which really helped me relax. I was asked to fill out a form that asks about areas of concern, medical issues, etc. When I was done, I was shown the Vichy shower room where my treatment began.
About the treatment itself - absolutely wonderful! The exfoliation was quick but nice, and the Vichy shower was AMAZING...I highly recommend it. Although I was sans clothing, towels were draped over my chest and bottom half the entire time, and I never felt exposed or uncomfortable. The shower both stimulated my body and completely relaxed me - it even cleared my sinus congestion that had been annoying me for the last couple of weeks. When it was over, I could feel a difference in how soft my skin felt. Next came the tanning application, and that was extremely nice. Think of a light-touch full-body and facial massage, and that's pretty much what you can expect. It left me with a nice golden color from the color guide. I haven't showered yet, so I can't speak as to how the final color will look, but so far so good. It's a little "splotchy" in the face area, but I didn't exfoliate my face before-hand, so I'd advise anyone getting this service to do so.
I didn't experience any of the problems other posters did, and I'd recommend this spa to anyone!
- Pros: Parking, hours, treatments
- Cons: Can be expensive
Um....a little customer service please?

Since when was it acceptable to treat one's clients as if they were the hired help? I have patronized some of the finest salons and spas all across the world and have to say that those currently employed in the Tacoma Mall salon have not been appropriately trained to serve their clientele. I made an appointment for a haircut and foil and upon arrival 20 minutes prior was told, "sit down...we'll let you know" by a snotty overly made up gal at the desk.
I sat and waited not just the twenty minutes but an additional ten before my stylist came out. The stylist was too distracted to bother with conversation and concentrated on talking with another stylist near her during the appointment. During the foil waiting time there was no offer of coffee, water or a magazine, just - "OK, I'll be back - you know the drill" and with a toss of her spikey hair she was off to work on another head.
I won't go back. Why bother? If the inflated prices were for a higher quality experience, I would unhesitatingly re-schedule. Since they are not, I can just go elsewhere and get a comparable hair cut and color where I'm not just another head on the books. Time for some customer service workshops, or, the staff can just go over to Nordstrom and observe how they treat their customers. It's like night and day how stark the difference is!
- Pros: Parking is plentiful, good shopping nearby, decor is nice in the salon
- Cons: Below average customer service, got behind on the schedule, not fun
Always the same bad cuts!

I don't know what it is about Gene Juarez, but their stylists only know how to do one haircut: a mullet! I've paid $50+ more times than I'd like to admit (because it's supposed to be the best salon in Seattle, after all) for terrible cuts. Save your money, so somewhere - anywhere - else!
- Pros: Kerastase products, convenient locations
- Cons: Unskilled stylists, overpriced, really bad cuts
