Average food, friendly waitstaff, good location if you want to hang out somewhere else for a drink after dinner.. The waitstaff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The food was average. I would have given it two starts if not for the staff. The saag paneer was overly salty, although the cheese cubes were tasty. The chicken tikka was a bit weighed down by the tomato sauce, overpowering the rest of the spices in the dish. Naan was good.
Great service...average food at best.. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The Saag paneer was some of the worst I've had. It might have just been a bad day, but this isn't anywhere close to the best Indian food I've had.
Great Food, Great Service. Gateway to India is by far the best Indian restaurant in this area, possibly the whole South Puget Sound. Great selections, outstanding service, sweet ambience. Give them your business--you won't regret it.
You have to try it. Gateway to India is one of Tacoma's finest restaurants. The food is top quality and absolutely delicious. Dinner entres are served in candle-heated bowls with a side of scrumptous jasmine rice and the portions are hearty. Service is solid and you'll almost always get a visit at your table from the owner C.J. I've NEVER been dissappointed by a dish there and the naan is to die for. If you're new to Indian food, try their lunch buffet. It's not ALL curry like a lot of people think. Beware, they're closed on Mondays.
One of the best restaurants in Tacoma!!.
By far, Gateway is one of the best restaurants in Tacoma. The quality of food is always outstanding, it has not diminished at all with the recent expansion. The murgh tikka masala and the veggie korma are OUTSTANDING! But so is most everything on the menu. The rice that comes as a side with every dish is better than most full menu items at any other restaurant.
Gateway specializes in cuisine from Northern India, so it's different that what a lot of people think of when they hear Indian food, i.e. it's not all curry.
Treat yourself to Gateway, you won't be disappointed!
