Great beers. Food is just so so
by Carlos180 at Citysearch
Love the locally brewed beers they have here. Even when I don't stay long, I like to order growlers to go rather than drink supermarket beer.
The food on the other hand is a little bit lacking. Its your basic bar grub like burgers and sandwiches, but nothing crazy good or anything. If I want a burger, there are a bunch of places within a mile or so I'd rather hit up. Still, its a fun place to hang out and the staff has always been great.
Don't settle for this place...

I'll keep this relatively short. Asked for my burger medium...first time it came out, it was a piece of charcoal. I sent it back and received a well done burger the second time. By then, my family was done eating and I just decided to take it anyway. The beer is not very good and the service wasn't that great either. When did the service industry stop caring about making customers happy? Isn't that their (only) responsibility? Go to the Rock instead...they have decent beer, and there is a reason they have a wait to get in.
- Pros: Got a parking space close by
- Cons: Service, kitchen staff, bathroom was closed...
Good food, good service, good times.

This is my first review, but I wanted to write one for the Harmon that was at least within the last 3 years. I had a great experience the few times I've been to the Harmon. The food has always been good; last time I went, my burger was cooked just like I'd ordered (medium rare) and the garlic fries are almost to die for. The atmosphere can be louder or quieter depending on time of day, but even in the late evening, it's not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation with your table-mates or so quiet that you can't drop a spoon on the floor without heads turning.
We had our waitress running back and forth for a million different things and a few people showed up to our table to join us late. She took each new order and request with a smile and as much speed as she could (it was a busy night there). We had things on separate checks and basically didn't make it that easy for her but she was pleasant and fast.
I don't drink alcohol so I can't testify to the beer, but combine the compliments from the last few reviews about the beer to my compliments of the food and service and you've got a great resturant for a night in Tacoma.
- Pros: Food, neat atmosphere, sporting events on TV, service
- Cons: Parking
Much better options nearby

The Harmon has good beer, but that's about it. The food is overpriced and just average. Ask for a burger to be rare because then at least there's a possibility that it may not come out resembling a hockey puck like most of the the burgers do.
As with most restautrants in downtown, parking is a challenge. So if you're going to deal with those hassles, at least treat yourself to better food that is close by...The Rock (fka Rock Pasta), the Swiss for sandwiches, or Meconi's. Or better yet, drive to 6th Avenue or the Proctor district and hit all the good restaturants there.
- Pros: Beer, Location
- Cons: Food, Parking
Lousy Food & Good Beer Selection

There cannot be worse bar food in Tacoma. This place has a great atmosphere, good on site brewed beer but really poor bar food. Recommend for drinking only.
- Pros: Beer selection, Beer quality, Atmosphere
- Cons: All food
