My two week old was admitted to their special cares nursery due to an infection. For the first two days, they allowed me to stay in her dark windowless room....in an uncomfortable recliner. They finally offered us a room, no bigger than a utility closet to stay in. They rarely checked in on us. Her IV fell out several times. One time they didn't check her IV before giving her the meds. Since the IV had fallen out, the meds ended up on my pants. She was not given any additional meds.

One the door, before entering the dungeon they call the special cares nursery, and posted all over inside are signs stating keep voices and noises down for the sake of the babies. It claims the quiet helps them heal more quickly. Well, the NURSES didn't think it applied to them. They were frequently talking extremely loudly at the nursing station. They rarely checked on the babies--except when absolutely necessary. Those babies rarely got held.

One particular instance that annoyed me, was when they were discussing another nurse who had recently quit. They got quite "animated", peppering their conversation with every curse word in the dictionary and then some. My room was the farthest from the nursing station. With my door closed, it was so loud I could clearly follow and understand the entire conversation. The babies didn't have the benefit of a door. They were kept in areas closer to the nursing station behind curtains. VERY ANNOYING!
