In Short – The first Super 8 opened in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1974, charging $8.88 a night. Today, the national franchise, with its familiar red-and-yellow sign, still stands for dependable rooms at wallet-friendly prices. A staple for road-tripping families, truck drivers and tour groups, the motel offers complimentary morning coffee and continental breakfasts. Another perk for travelers: Super 8 travel cups may be refilled for free at any of the motel's locations.

We got 3 rooms w/1 queen-sized beds. The room was very musty, 1 pillow was also lumpy, but did have a blow-dryer. The front desk person was nice enough to tell us that a nearby race track would be having a fireworks show that evening (july 5) Their breakfast was not geared for anybody wanting to eat healthy - there was no fruit, yogurt or skim milk!! They did have waffles, oatmeal and packaged muffins. I would ask not to have a room above the entryway b/c 2/3 of our rooms were woken up by people getting ready to leave and talking outside (1 floor down) at 6am!
- Pros: blow-dryers
- Cons: bad breakfast selection
