An old-fashioned country escape..
The Scene
This large 1898 Queen Anne farmhouse lounges in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by gardens and trees. It is a relaxed, homey place where the owner prides himself on baking the best chocolate chip cookies in Skagit Valley. As for the decor, he refers to it as "Martha Stewart goes thrift shopping." The property is across the street from the Skagit River and celebrated tulip fields. This is a good place for bird-watching during the winter months.
The Details
There's nothing froufrou or too precious about this three-bedroom B&B that also features a separate cottage. The gardens sit on former farmland, and the furnishings are a combination of antiques, junk store finds and just plain comfy pieces. The three rooms share two bathrooms, feature bright floral color schemes and have views of the Olympic Mountains or Mount Baker.
