Fantastic Seafood pasta
by ackrondeb
One of my favorite places to eat pasta "was" in Las Vegas at an Italian place. I have eaten in many places, but I have to say, the seafood pasta at Nell Thorns was the best!! My hubby and I had different dishes and they both were the best. I wanted to just keep eating!. Time before that we had steak, and salmon, fantastic also.
I believe this is one of the best kept secrets around, but not for long.
Food and service was fantastic. They went out of thier way the first time. There was such a wait, even though we had reservations that they made us a table up in the bar.
I love this place a will go back again and again and again.
They do change the menu. They use what is in season and what is fresh. You will love whatever you get!!
Worth taking risks on this menu, amazing place.

I went here for dinner while visiting the area after seeing their website. We were seated promptly, but I was disappointed they had two rooms to seat people in, but had seated everybody in the same small room for the 6:45 seating. You could hear everyone's conversation and it didn't seem promising for an intimate meal.
When I read the menu my mood dropped another notch - I'd wanted the chicken I saw on the website & it wasn't on the menu. Not only that but NO chicken was on it. They offered three pastas (online showed a risotto and lasagna too) one meatless and the others were both seafood which seemed unbalanced. I would've ordered salmon with lemon butter sauce but it sounded uninteresting. Apparently they do a fresh sheet daily to reflect what's available but I wish it had been stated on the online menu.
We ordered the crispy polenta appetizer, and I reluctantly settled on cod with a risotto shitake cake, my husband a hanger steak with pommes frites - he'd had too many undercooked steaks too so to my horror he asked for it well done, which I figured meant it was bound to end up dry and tasteless.
We were served some of the best bread I have ever had, chewy soft and fresh. The polenta arrived heaped with a delicious tomato & olive sauce and it was very flavorful, plenty for two to share. I also realized I had tuned out the other patrons and was having a good time.
Our main courses arrived, and things got even better. My cod was perfectly seasoned, and the risotto & spinach went well with it. The steak was well done as ordered - but was also juicy and delicious, the best either of us have tasted which is saying a lot, even the homemade fries were amazing.
We split a lemon angel food cake with lemon custard and it didn't stand out but was a good ending.
I'm PICKY and was very impressed, the only better meal I have had was at the Herbfarm. I'd recommend it to anybody who is even remotely near the area. It was $70 for the above and two glasses of wine.
- Pros: Delicious food, leisurely paced meal, worth every penny.
- Cons: Be open incase you have to try something you weren't planning for dinner.
