Lacks Customer Service.
We have used Paul Moceri for two jobs in Bellingham and have found him to lack in customer service and follow through after a job is complete. He has built a house for us and also had a contract for timber clearing. We have had issues with him on both jobs and some of the more major ones are as follows:
1) Plumbing leak. Recently our house had a plumbing leak as a result of a drain pipe being installed that was not cemented. This caused significant ceiling damage and wall board damage. The plumber fixing the leak noted and showed us how he came to that conclusion, it was evident that no cement was on the pipe joint. We email Paul with our concern and he did not respond until we reached out by phone. He acknowledged the email but as he was not going to fix it, he felt he did not have to respond.
2) Our design spec called for a pocket door in the construction. He missed this on the drawing and put in a hinged door. When we pointed this out to him shortly after we were in the house, his response was it is too expensive to go in and change it now.
3) We recently had trees cleared from a lot where we used him to clear and remove trees from a site with a signed contract. After the trees were cleared, we noted that the lumber was not removed and we withheld $1,000 from the final payment. During this process we were considering using him for construction of our house. He convinced us to give him the retention with the understanding that when we were ready to have the wood removed he would send a truck out to do it. We agreed and gave him the retention with that understanding. Big mistake. When he found out he would not get the construction job on our house all dialogue and correspondence ceased. We emailed him a request to remove the wood and as in item 1 above he did not respond. When we finally called he gave the same response, “I am not going to remove the wood so I did not feel I needed to respond.”
These comments speak for themselves. If you chose to use Moceri construction, understand he will be very gracious and accommodating in the sales and marketing mode but in the support mode after construction is complete make sure you have everything in writing or you will be disappointed as we were. There are a lot of quality builders in Bellingham we have found but I would be careful in dealing with Moceri Construction.
