Simple surroundings and a warm welcome in the downtown area.. The Scene
The Sunset House hasn't come a long way since its days as a boarding house in the early 1900s--and that's a good thing. This Queen Anne-style home was built in the mid-1800s. When proprietors Nancy and Paul Boileau had it restored just before the turn of the millennium, they maintained its original character, as well as the original boarding house sign, which hangs in the foyer.

Guests can choose from four bedrooms, which are decorated in a basic style, to the point of being sparse were it not for the few thoughtfully chosen antiques in each. Notables include a vanity table in the Green Room, a rocker in the Train Room, a pretty quilt in the Blue Room and red fabric draping the bed, table and closet in the Red Room. Stays include continental breakfast. Air-conditioning is available during the warm season. Within walking distance are the Church Street Marketplace, Flynn Theater and Lake Champlain Waterfront.
