Went there 47 years ago last Sept. Have gone there every time there was something special to celebrate. Our birthdays. Our friends birthdays. Visitors from the Netherlands, every time we found out a new addition was coming to our family. I could go on. We like to eat out. Now that we are senior citizens it is only 3 or 4 times a week. We have visited restaurants all over the various places we have traveled. The two best restaurants to me is Maddox in Perry, utah. And Thia Jazzmine in Syracuse, Utah. Today is our 47th wedding anniversary. Guess where we are going. The faces have changed, who we learned to love dearly, but the food is just as good as ever. Love Maddox.
I will never, ever go back to Maddox Ranch House. I don't understand how they can have a good reputation when their food is so lousy. I keep going there hoping it will be better, but the last three times I went I was totally disappointed & wished I had gone somewhere else. I went to Maddox last Friday night with a group & several of us ordered the shrimp steak. Everyone said it was awful! So tough & tasteless, it was like eating a rubber band. What a waste of good money. I WILL NEVER RETURN!
Great food possibly the best steak house in Utah in my opinion. They have good rolls and some really good Raspberry Butter definitely worth the drive from Bountiful where I live.
We ate here a few months ago and loved it! This is a great family restaurant and has the best fried chicken! The steaks were also divine! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area, especially if you are with your family. The service was great also. We will definitely be back.
Disappointed – We thought we would try something different fo Valentines and chose Maddox Ranch House, money was not an object this night. for all the hoopla We've heard it was an overall disappointment. We had a reservation and was seated right away, no complaints there. The waitress was attentive but appeared just not friendly just all about getting the order and moving us out. The homemade rolls and rasberry butter was absolutely fantastic but that would be the only thing I would go there to eat. There were four of us and we all ordered something different and not one of us would go back. In fact two of us took maybe 2 or 3 bites of the bison steak and turkey steak and didn't eat anymore. There chicken is very good and eating at the outside pull ups but my recommendation would be to not hassle with inside the restaurant.
Highly over rated – All the locals rave about this place. I gave it a try and found the steaks to be very tough, overcooked and no flavor at all.
A Must Try!! – This place is worth the travel. If you have never been here it is a dinning treat. I have been here many times and I am not going to sit here and tell you that you will have the best experience no matter what. I have found that people are different in many ways. This place has a very ranch house atmosphere consider lively by some and not romantic enough by others. That being said I have had one of the most romantic dinners of my life at this restaurant but it is about timing and most of all you. If you enjoy really processed hormone fed meat then you will not enjoy your meal here. If you have found the perfect steak grown in the perfect place and only served at <insert restaurant here> then you may not like this. The Beef is raised by the ranch and served in there establishment. They also raise bison and serve buffalo burgers that are an organic treat. As mentioned in many articles the rolls are good but if you can bake you can make rolls this good at home and your favorite grandmas recipe jam is better than ras-butter. Don't take me wrong ,there good, but you just can't find this steak else where do your self a favor try it. If you don't like it there it is. As for me and many of the people I know we are appalled to see so many reviews where people think you should go for fried chicken and bread. Go enjoy the atmosphere and the one of a kind steaks.
lunch, eh? – Glorified roadhouse grub. Forgotten parts of the order, when it was not even busy. Taste and quality that does not justify the price. Maybe for the 'old time' feel but not for the food.
39 years of good food. Too bad they are in their 41rst year. – The rolls ARE good. The wait is too long. The cuts of meat are ok, but not great. The fried chicken is not bad. For me the value is too low to detour off the freeway.
The best steakhouse in Utah, a family tradition – The rolls are to die for, everyone smuggles them home. Ignore the pasta it's subpar. The soups are good, the salads are standard but you are going for the steak which couldn't get any better. It's worth the drive. When my parents and my husband's parents wanted to get together to discuss our wedding this is where I took them, now they are addicted too. Make reservations or you will wait. It has a rustic look, don't let it scare you or the masses of people and the huge parking lot. I wish I could go there today. Don't be afraid to go in a huge group they can handle it. My Grandma had her 80th birthday dinner here and we had about 35 people with no problem.
