The Scene – Big families (with at least three generations around the table) and large groups indicate that coming to Maddox is a special occasion. The aromas of fresh-baked pies, homemade rolls and cornbread whet the appetite. – – The Food – Big portions of old-fashioned meat and potatoes. Excellent chicken, beef, lamb and buffalo are the main attractions, with fresh steamed vegetables, baked potato and homemade soup or salad to keep you busy. Fried chicken and chicken-fried bison steak are two favorites. Steak and lamb chops are popular, or try the herb-crusted…

Disappointed

by lalijajuwa

We thought we would try something different fo Valentines and chose Maddox Ranch House, money was not an object this night. for all the hoopla We've heard it was an overall disappointment. We had a reservation and was seated right away, no complaints there. The waitress was attentive but appeared just not friendly just all about getting the order and moving us out. The homemade rolls and rasberry butter was absolutely fantastic but that would be the only thing I would go there to eat. There were four of us and we all ordered something different and not one of us would go back. In fact two of us took maybe 2 or 3 bites of the bison steak and turkey steak and didn't eat anymore. There chicken is very good and eating at the outside pull ups but my recommendation would be to not hassle with inside the restaurant.

Highly over rated

All the locals rave about this place. I gave it a try and found the steaks to be very tough, overcooked and no flavor at all.

  • Pros: Rolls
  • Cons: Steaks, Dirty Glasses, Service

A Must Try!!

by Darthalomus

This place is worth the travel. If you have never been here it is a dinning treat. I have been here many times and I am not going to sit here and tell you that you will have the best experience no matter what. I have found that people are different in many ways. This place has a very ranch house atmosphere consider lively by some and not romantic enough by others. That being said I have had one of the most romantic dinners of my life at this restaurant but it is about timing and most of all you. If you enjoy really processed hormone fed meat then you will not enjoy your meal here. If you have found the perfect steak grown in the perfect place and only served at <insert restaurant here> then you may not like this. The Beef is raised by the ranch and served in there establishment. They also raise bison and serve buffalo burgers that are an organic treat. As mentioned in many articles the rolls are good but if you can bake you can make rolls this good at home and your favorite grandmas recipe jam is better than ras-butter. Don't take me wrong ,there good, but you just can't find this steak else where do your self a favor try it. If you don't like it there it is. As for me and many of the people I know we are appalled to see so many reviews where people think you should go for fried chicken and bread. Go enjoy the atmosphere and the one of a kind steaks.

  • Pros: one of a kind steaks
  • Cons: distance from freeway/toruist attractions

lunch, eh?

Glorified roadhouse grub. Forgotten parts of the order, when it was not even busy. Taste and quality that does not justify the price. Maybe for the 'old time' feel but not for the food.

  • Pros: chicken
  • Cons: service, fricook quality of the food.

39 years of good food. Too bad they are in their 41rst year.

The rolls ARE good. The wait is too long. The cuts of meat are ok, but not great. The fried chicken is not bad. For me the value is too low to detour off the freeway.
