Terrible and Dishonest Service Department

by jerest

I took my car to have the exhaust manifold gaskets replaced and when the car was returned I was told by service adviser that my exhaust manifold was warped. The effects of the manifold being warped was a very load noise coming from the manifold because a proper seal was no longer possible. Their advice was to get the manifold replaced. Replacing the manifold is very expensive I had to wait to get the repair done. At this point, I felt cheated because my car was in worse condition after the repair. When I finally could afford to get the manifold repaired, I went to a different mechanic. The mechanic check the manifold and informed me the exhaust manifold was not warped, in fact, the exhaust manifold gaskets were not properly in stalled. The improperly installed gaskets caused the loud noise and for exhaust to enter the cabin, which I was told my car would be safe to drive, but would not pass inspection until I got the manifold replaced.

James Mears did offer reimbursement for the cost of repair, but not parts. I also wanted to be reimbursed for parts that I paid for and that were ruined. To this day, I have not received any kind of reimbursement.

Clarification from Mears Mazda Volvo on MMSanta's Volvo

by MearsMazdaVolvo

MMSanta:

We sincerely apologize that you believed your experience to be less than par. We would like to take a moment, however, to point out a few discrepancies between the work requested and actually preformed here at our dealership.

Here at Mears Mazda Volvo we do pride ourselves on excellent customer service and strive to make the most out of each car sale and maintenance request. In December 2010 we serviced your vehicle for an oil trap and PCV System due to a check engine light. In January 2011 your vehicle was serviced with a timing belt and front crank and cam seals all at a 15% discount on labor. After reviewing numerous conversations documented between our dealership, dealership in Albuquerque, and yourself it was determined by the Albuquerque dealership that the oil leak resonated in the top rear of the engine. Unfortunately we were never asked to inspect the seal/seal covers in the back, thus the statements are inaccurate. We did not, in any shape or form, touch the portion of the motor that had created the leak. The assistant service manager contacted you immediately after hearing the issues you brought forth.

We did, however, refund the amount of $361.45 in good will for time spent. Unfortunately, Mears Mazda Volvo is not able to refund you for the services rendered in Albuquerque as you have requested. We also have been working hand in hand with the BBB on this issue and have supplied all the requested paperwork.

We really want each and every customer to have a pleasant experience once they walk through our doors. We are currently revamping our entire website to be more customer friendly and informational, we also will have a brand new waiting area set up this month that will include FREE WiFi for our customers, and computers for their browsing needs. We strive for the ultimate customer experience, and it's our apologies that you feel you did not get 100%.

Happy driving.

Warning! Dishonest Service Department!

by MMSanta

My Vehicle needed a warranty part replaced and had to get towed to the nearest dealership (James Mears, TX). We are a military couple stationed at Cannon AFB and trusted the mechanics to service our car correctly. Approx. 1 week later my car leaked 6 qrts of oil. Being that I was suspicious of the previous dealer, I drove nearly 4 hrs to another dealership in ABQ for a 2nd expert opinion. I was appaulled by their findings! The mechanic that changed out my Timing Belt at James Mears Motors did not replace my seal covers (after poking holes through them) tried to reseal it with RVT instead of correctly replacing them with new ones-CAUSING major oil leaks over the next few months! AND, had I not gotten that 2nd opinion and had those seal covers replaced, I would have drove to my next duty station while overheating and killing my ENGINE! I'm currently disputing the short-cut repairs done to my car and reimbursement of the labor, I paid in full for service that was not rendered! And, being that this Dealer lacks integrity, I still have rec'd no comment or return calls from the GM/ Service Mangager. The case has been referred to the BBB.
