Dine By Water, Variety, Tasty. We eat at Amberjacks when in town and recently again enjoyed our food and experience there. We were warmly greeted and were able to choose our seating outside near the water. Our group ordered crab cakes, shrimp po boy, avocado and tomato stuffed with crab salad and chicken salad, shrimp crepes. All were delicious. One in our group ordered the seafood enchiladas and was not excited about those. Our server stopped by to refresh our drinks often. We watched boaters, jet skiers go by as we ate. I like it there.…
Amazing Food, Service, Atmosphere and Music. We celebrated my wife's birthday here and couldn't have been happier. The service from everyone was great and friendly. The menu offered so many great local dishes. We loved the coconut shrimp with mango sauce and mahi mahi with mango salsa. When they found out it was my wife's birthday, they even gave us a free piece of key lime pie! We sat on the outdoor patio and the watched the sunset while a live band played great music. We recommend this to anyone! We're from Pittsburgh and we loved it!…
TERRIBLE!! COLD FOOD & EVEN WORSE SERVICE--AVOID!!!!!!!!!. Go To Louie?s or Blackbeard?s instead?. My family & I went to Amberjack?s on a Friday evening and it wasn?t particularly busy (maybe 80% full), yet our waiters were SLOW, our FOOD WAS COLD, and the management even worse. We ordered off the menu and not the buffet, yet all our food tasted as if it had been sitting for hours on a cold buffet line. Every single item we ordered was cold. The fries, the baked potato, grilled chicken, even the butter that arrived with the crab legs all were COLD!!! Worse yet when both the manager and executive chef came to our table all they offered was an insincere apology. They never offered to replace our meals with hot ones; or even so much as comp our non-alcoholic beverages. Who doesn?t at least buy the table some soft drinks?! The waitstaff was so slow. I had to go to the bar to get my own drink refills, we never received water refills, and I had to chase them down for the check. When we did receive our bill, they charged us for drinks we never received and items we had sent back uneaten. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE & EAT ELSEWHERE!!!…
Horrific service, bad management. Where to begin, we went for a quick bite over the Memorial Day weekend and ended up hugely dissappointed and completely ripped off. I realize it was a busy holiday weekend, but the service was poor poor poor! Food was mediocore, and when the check came, they had automatically charged gratuity to our table of 3. Their reasoning was that due to the fact that there was a $24.99 seafood buffet going on, that EVERYONE who walked in the door got charged the auto gratuity, whether they ordered the buffet or NOT!! We tried to get an answer or resolvement out of our especially rude waitress, who we overheard call us CHEAP and the extremely untrained "new on the job by TWO weeks' manager and they gave us nothing, but an "I'm so sorry and we will let the owner know". So, basically, don't go, unless you want to be jipped and treated poorly. My only consolation is that we we are to tell people in the parking lot, to just turn around and not waste their time.…
Festive food and atmosphere on Laguna Madre Bay..
The Scene
Corrugated metal, palm fronds, colorful fish sculptures and suspended ornaments (implying bubbles) in its main dining room give Amberjack's a relaxed, island feel; generous
windows allow light and views of Laguna Madre Bay to complement the fun atmosphere. Additional seating upstairs and overlooking the water further accommodates diners. Service is knowledgeable without being stuffy.
The Food
A bit more inventive than similar Padre restaurants, Amberjack's offers both ubiquitous seafood dishes like oysters Rockefeller, shrimp cocktail, seafood platters and fresher choices, like Rasta shrimp (sauteed in curry sauce), and shrimp and crab enchiladas. The rest of the menu follows suit: Two wraps--including the meaty club wrap with turkey, ham, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing on a herb tortilla--have made the sandwich list, and grilled chicken with creamy pesto pasta shares entree space with standards like country fried chicken and filet mignon.…
